specimens.xlsx contains the names, measured sizes and period of fixation of the specimens as well as sex and age of the patients. Please note: length and width were determined approximaltely with a sliding caliper (not with the ruler depicted in the photographs). The height is more accurate, because it was determined with an analog altimeter. Each folder KKXXX of the specimens contains photographs and a file measurement_KKXXX_spongiosa.xlsx and measurement_KKXXX_compacta.xlsx with the raw measurement data for cancellous bone and compact bone, respectively. These files contain time [s], displacement of the indenter [mm] and measured compressive force. The measurement results of the cancellous bones and details of the experimental setup are presented in Strackeljan, Duvigneau, Borgolte, Lohmann, Döring, Berth and Woschke - "Identifying a suitable material model to simulate the mechanical load transfer into the humeral bone in stemless shoulder endoprostheses", publication expected late 2024. The measurement results for the compact bone were recorded with the same procedure using a circular indenter with a diameter of 9mm. This is not optimal for the (approximately) circular bone head, which is structurally very stable. A pointed indenter would be better suited. They results for the compact bone were included in this data set nevertheless for possible use in the future. The folder MATLAB contains the measurement results as .mat-files, as well as scripts for data analysis. The folder Experimental_setup contains photographs and the CAD-files for the adapters.
